The Third Global Ayurveda Festival (GAF), a biennial event, organized by Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA) a non-profit voluntary organization along with all the other stakeholders was held from 31st January to 4th February 2016 at Kozhikode, Kerala, India with lot of enthusiasm and fervour.
MSR Indic Centre for Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine (MSR ICAIM) was one of the co-sponsors of the event and many of our staff participated in the Seminar and Exhibition at the festival. Dr. GG Gangadharan, Director, MSR ICAIM, President, CISSA and Chairman, National Steering Committee, GAF 2016 worked tirelessly the last few months for the successful conduct of the festival. The highlight of the event was the august presence of our beloved Prime Minister Sri. Narendra Modi at the inauguration of the Vision Conclave at GAF. Other dignitaries included Sri. Oomen Chandy, Chief Minister, Kerala, Sri. Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Sri. P Sathasivam, Governor, Kerala; Sri V.S.Sivakumar, Minister for Health, Family Welfare and Devaswom, Government of Kerala.
MSR ICAIM offered consultations to many of the visitors and medicines were also made available at the Exhibition. Information on Ayurveda medical services available at our centre was also made available.
Day 1 (31.01.16): Dr. G G Gangadharan, Chairman of the National Steering Committee; Director, MSR ICAIM, Bangalore welcomed eminent speakers and delegates to the Festival.
Day 2 (01.02.16): Our respected Chairman, Dr. M.R.Jayaram, Gokula Education Foundation, inaugurated the plenary session on Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine which had eminent speakers including Dr. G G Gangadharan, Dr. Vandana Shiva, Dr.Bhushan Patwardhan and Dr. Rama Jayasundar.
Day 3 (02-02-2016): Dr. G G Gangadharan welcomed the Honourable Prime Minister Sri. Narendra Modi, Sri. Oomen Chandy, Chief Minister, Kerala, Sri. Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH, Sri. P Sathasivam, Governor, Kerala other dignitaries and delegates to the Vision Conclave. Sri. Narendra Modi addressed the Ayurveda community and shared his understanding of Ayurveda, measures taken to mainstream Ayurveda and the importance of integrating science and Ayurveda, Yoga and Siddha systems of medicine.
Dr. Naresh Shetty, President, MSRMH, chaired the session on ‘National Road Map for Ayurveda’.
Day 4 (03-02-2016): Prof. R. H. Singh, B.H.U. welcomed the eminent speakers and the delegates. The speakers shared their view on Scientific Research and Ayurveda, highlighting on the recently published work on Prakriti Ayurgenomics, of which Dr. GG Gangadharan is one of the Principal Investigator and Co-author.
