INFERTILITY

Infertility is referred to the biological inability of an individual of reproductive age to contribute to conception. Infertility affects both men and women. In women, it may also refer to the state when she is not able to carry a pregnancy to its full term.

Ayurveda considers infertility as Vandhyatwa or Shukra dhathu dusti caused due to imbalance of the tridoshas predominantly vata dosha .

Causes

Female infertility is caused due to endocrine disorders( PCOS, hypothyroid), structural defects of the uterus-blocked fallopian tubes, defect in cervical canal, polyps, tumors or cysts, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic inflammatory diseases  (salphingitis, cervicitis), Endometriosis, stress, overweight, alcohol or drug abuse etc.

Common male infertility reasons are Azoospermia (no sperm cells are produced), Asthenozoospermia (decreased motility of sperm) and Oligospermia (few sperm cells are produced).
