Ayurveda is one of the most Ancient Holistic Science that came into existence 5000 years ago. Ayurveda is defined as the ‘Science of Life’.

According to Ayurveda, Health is considered as the complete state of wellbeing and not the mere absence of disease. Health is also described as the state of equilibrium of mind, body and soul. Ayurveda strongly believes in maintaining and promoting health and taking measures to prevent diseases. This science considers treating the person as a whole and not the disease alone. Ayurvedic treatments are tailored to suit every individual according to their disease condition and constitution.

Ayurveda treatment strategies may include pharmacological interventions, panchakarma (detoxification process), Yoga and appropriate modifications in diet and lifestyle. Oleation (snehana) and sudation (svedana), cleansing (shodhana) by vamana (therapeutic emesis) and virechana (therapeutic purgation) and nasal administration of medicines (nasya) are the main Panchakarma therapies that are administered whenever nescessary. These are complemented with suitable internal medications that include freshly prepared juices of herbs (svarasa), pastes (kalka), lipid based formulations (sneha – oil or ghee based preparations), decoctions (kashaya), powders (churna), fermented preparations (asava- arishta), pills (vati).
